This past week I celebrated my birthday.

Usually, I am not one to do a lot for my birthday, but after last year I decided it was time I started celebrating myself. This year I did all the things that I love, and was not able to do last year.

I went to Disneyland, went to a concert, and treated myself to a Starbucks and a manicure. I also got treated to a birthday brunch to kick-off my birthday week. There were some plans that had to be pushed back for various reasons, so coming up I have a dinner, a haircut, and a birthday cake.

Being at Disneyland was probably the high-point for me because I did everything I would have never done before– I wore a dress, had a crown, asked for a birthday button, and welcomed all the attention. It honestly, was really nice and made my short trip a unique one. I will say, now that I have finally jumped on the birthday train, I now really want to celebrate one at Walt Disney World.

What do you normally do to celebrate your birthday?

{Spending some quality time with my niece and reading poolside}

{Using my Stoney Clover Lane tote bag for the first time}

{Drinking out of this coconut while packing to come home}

{My first order from the Common Room- how gorgeous is this packaging?!}

{Perfecting an at-home pumpkin cream cold brew}

I started off my week with four days in Vegas babysitting my niece. We spent most our time sleeping in, drinking coffee and reading books– it was great! It also was the very first time I got to use this gorgeous Stoney Clover Lane tote bag which holds way more than I expected it to. Some highlights from my trip include drinking a Pina colada by the pool and drinking a stamped coconut while packing to go home. It felt like the official end to summer.

When I came home there was a lot of happy mail waiting for me! I got my first order from The Common Room. I have definitely been getting into the fall swing-of-things lately, especially when it comes to clothes and fun accessories. I would be lying if I said I hadn’t started decorating yet. Speaking of Fall things, I also perfected the pumpkin cream cold brew at home and could not be more excited.

I hope you lovelies have had a good week; it was definitely hard going back to work after a few days off. I am so excited for all the fun things coming up and for my favorite time of year. What is your favorite time of year?

{Starbucks but make it Star Wars}

{This cute little setup I made onto of our TV unit.}

{Having some fun Star Wars accessories on.}

{Getting my hair colored for graduation}

{Getting a delicious boba named after a Star Wars aircraft.}

Bright Suns! (IYKYK)

I am such a fan of Star Wars…and if it isn’t obvious, May 4th! This week every year is so crazy for me because I have May 4th, Cinco de Mayo, and my mom’s birthday all back-to-back. To say that I fully celebrate all three to the best I can every year would be an understatement. I had such a fun, and crazy busy, week.

On May 4th, I got my hair colored for the first time since 2019, so it is nice a fresh for graduation. I also celebrated May 4th with a Starbucks, a Thai fighter boba, Mediterranean food, and watching a mini Star Wars marathon. It was such a fun day where I got to put the stress of finals and graduation behind me (for the moment). I also had plenty of snacks that were Star Wars themed. I wish that I was able to be at Disneyland on the 4th but those tickets went faster than lightspeed the day tickets went on sale. I went all out with my favorite Star Wars shirt, a cute droid pop socket, and a super cute porg keychain.

Did you do anything fun for May 4th or in general during the week? I would love to hear about it, so leave me a comment down below.

{Trying the new Starbucks drink that I am now addicted to}

{Discovering some new makeup products I am in love with}

{Some new sunnies for when the weather warms up}

{Jumping on the Nuimo bandwagon and loving it}

{Finding super cute Star Wars cupcakes, and having a movie marathon}

I’m not going to lie, January and February were ROUGH for me. Now that it’s March, I have been focusing a lot on myself because, well, I deserve it! I have been doing a good amount of self care everyday, and I am learning that it is okay to not be as motivated, as productive, or as scheduled as I normally am. This past week I have stepped away from my normal routines, and allowed myself to not feel guilty about it.

I have found that my preferred self care is treating myself to some things that bring me joy. I started off the week by trying the new Starbucks shaken brown sugar oat milk espresso drink, and instantly became addicted to it. I have had it almost every day #sorrynotsorry. I think that if you are an espresso lover you will absolutely love this drink, but if you aren’t big on coffee flavor, you will probably hate it.

I’ve done a few mini shopping sprees at Sephora lately too. I have been wanting to update my makeup routine, and have been in the mood to try new brands. I picked up some Charolette Tilburry, Rare Beauty, Farmacy and Laneige. So far I am loving every thing I bought, especially the Laneige lip balm and the Charlotte Tilbury foundation. I also added some drugstore products to my line-up and they are amazing.

I bought some cute affordable sunglasses for Amazon. I really wanted a fun accessory to spruce up my outfits, and these definitely add some flair I have been missing. I get so many compliments on the heart glasses and the round wire glasses every time I wear them.

I have been leaning hard into my Disney feels this week and I have been blessed with so much Disney news that it makes it worse– HA! For those of you wondering, yes I have tickets to “A Touch of Disney”, and yes I will be purchasing tickets for when the parks open. Until then, I have been loving my little Nuimos in my room (and these super cute accessories for Minnie). I also have been enjoying watching Star Wars with my boyfriend while enjoying these super cute treats from a local bakery.

I hope that if you are having a hard time right now, you are able to take a step back and just focus on you. Everyone has struggles, and just because yours might not be earth shattering, it doesn’t mean that they are any less important. Take care of yourselves no matter what that looks like to you and be unapologetic about it.

Sending nothing but good vibes your way!

If there is one thing to know about me it is that I LOVE Fall and Halloween is my favorite holiday! This year, just like many other things, SPKY SZN looks different. The things that I cherish doing every year might not even be a possibility this year, but I am determined to not let it get me down! There are still many things that I am going to try to do this Fall and I thought it would be fun to share my Halloween quarantine bucket list with you.

This is one thing that I have always wanted to do, but between a full time job and school I never had the time. With COVID, and me being unemployed this one is at the top of my list! I have always wanted to get a bunch of pillows and blankets in the living room, wear jammies, and veg while watching some of my favorite Halloween movies.

This is a tradition of mine! I always bake pumpkin bread, and a lot of it. I know pumpkin isn’t for everyone so if your heart is saying apple pie then you go Glen CoCo!

I also looovvveee me some pumpkin spice lattes! I will drink these religiously until December. There is a local coffee shop near me that makes the best pumpkin lattes but, I also love a good Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew from Starbucks!

Okay, so I am one of those people who decorates for Fall and then again for Halloween. Is it obsessive? Perhaps. But honestly I don’t care! I love this season so much and adding some decor to your home really makes it feel cozy and makes the season feel more special. Even just adding a fall wreath or a pumpkin can make a big difference!

I love the smells of this season and love a good cloudy day to light up my candles and breathe in the spirit of the season! My personal favorites are Marshmallow Fireside, Leaves, Autumn Air, and White Pumpkin from Bath & Body Works.

My boyfriend and I love drinking pumpkin beer this time of year. It’s become a little tradition of ours to taste test whichever ones we can find! I actually found some fun beer tasting sheets at the dollar spot in Target and we made a date night out of it.

I was so worried that there would be absolutely no pumpkin patches this year. There are some, but they are far and few. I went to my favorite one (can read more about it here) and was able to soak up all the fall vibes.

Since we are still pretty much on lockdown I don’t see why we still can’t wear a costume– even if its just at home. I plan on dressing up because, well, I can. I’m not sure what I am going to be yet, but this is what I was last year for work. And yes, my name is wrong on my name tag. I figured if someone came in and didn’t have a good time I could pull a Jungle Cruise joke– I’m Lyndsay, but if you didn’t have a pleasant experience my name is Leslie and you are at Disneyland. Also…people actually mess up my name all the time at work so it’s kind of an inside joke with my coworkers HA!

This is a new one for me. I have SO many Halloween graphic tees and every year I never get around to wearing them (they go against my work dress code). This year since I have no work I am going to live in them. Sorry, not sorry.

This is another tradition that I share with my boyfriend. We always make a night of carving pumpkins, watching movies, and feeding the pup some pumpkin bits. I mean is it even Halloween without a jack-o-lantern?! I think not.

What are you looking forward to this month despite being in lock down? I would love to know!

One of the hardest parts of being stuck at home for me has been not being able to go to a coffee shop regularly. I do make quite a bit of coffee drinks at home but there are certain ones that just can’t be made at home. I have spent the past few weeks creating my own versions of my usual go-to drinks from some of my local coffee shops. These aren’t exact replicas but they are delicious enough to get me through this quarantine!

I am a huge fan of green tea lattes. I normally order (from Starbucks) a green tea latte with almond milk and vanilla. I know that by adding in the vanilla it isn’t the healthiest option so for my at-home version I have subbed out the vanilla syrup to make a healthier alternative.

Here’s how to make it:

  • 1 tbsp. matcha powder
  • 1 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 2-4 drops liquid stevia (only if using unsweetened almond milk)

mix all ingredients together with a whisk or in a nutra/magic bullet to get frothy and serve over ice.

I also love an iced chai latte on warm, sunny days. Out of all of the drinks I make at home the chai was the easiest to master AFTER I found the right chai blend. For myself, I like it a little more on the spicy side rather than the sweet side so this comes down to personal preference. If you prefer the spicy side I highly recommend the Trader Joe’s Chai Concentrate. If you prefer the more sweet blend the Tazo version is really good! This recipe is really about how YOU like your chai so the portions may vary based on your taste.

Here’s how to make it:

  • 1/4 cup chai
  • 1 cup vanilla almond milk (unsweetened)
  • a splash of milk of choice (I use lactose free whole milk)

mix together by stirring and serve over ice.

this is one of my more recent coffee obsessions from a local coffee shop. I know that it may sound like a strange combo but it’s essentially a cold brew mocha and it’s AHMAZING! This is also probably the most simple coffee to make.

Here’s how to make it:

  • chocolate milk of choice (I use chocolate almond milk)
  • cold brew of choice (I use store bought Stok brand)

put ice in a tall glass and pour in cold brew until it fills up half the cup and then top off with chocolate milk.

Okay, so I admit that this isn’t something I had ever heard of until quarantine BUT it quickly became one of my go-to coffee drinks! Not only is it delicious but it is also fun to make. I am a big fan of strong coffee so I love it but I have had a lot of people who reached out to me (after seeing me post it 24-7) saying they didn’t like it because it is too strong.

Here’s how to make it:

  • 2 tbsp instant coffee
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 2 tbsp hot water
  • milk of choice (I prefer oat milk)

blend mixture together in a bowl using a hand mixer until mixture is whipped cream consistency. Spoon over ice and milk of choice.

What drinks have you been missing from your favorite coffee shop? There are still a few more on mine! I think next I want to tackle Thai tea and the Dragon Drink from Starbucks.

It has been a little over a week since I have been at home in quarantine. I started off really strong. I was cleaning everyday, keeping a routine up, and getting some fresh air daily. As day five rolled around, my discipline started to crack. What did I do? I did way too much online shopping. I know it’s not the worst thing to do but it also wasn’t ideal. I eventually justified it as supporting small business I love as well as following through with my tax refund plans I had previously made (but held off on due to COVID-19 craziness). So I thought it would be fun to share with you what I have bought during quarantine!

I bought two tie dye sweatshirts: one from Urban Outfitters and one from Target. While they are similar in color and trend they are different in style. I love them both and I have been wearing them constantly!

I also bought this shirt from Urban Outfitters (on sale)! I have had my eye on this shirt for a while now and decided to get it! I do wish that I had gone up a size to make it a little less snug but I still love it.

I bought this sweater from Lulus for work and travel but I honestly feel it is just a good piece to have for Fall and Winter. It was also on sale and I couldn’t pass it up. The quality is great and I do not regret it at all.

I have had my eye on this dress for a while (from Madison and Mallory) and initially wanted it for work. I did buy it even though I am not currently working because I know that when I do start work again I will wear it. Also if the two trips I had planned by some miracle still happen, I will wear it there as well!

This was an item I planned on buying with part of my tax refund. I currently have no headphones. This honestly was more of a necessity than a splurge. I live with two other people, have extremely loud neighbors upstairs, and have been doing lots of video calling. I needed some noise cancelling earphones STAT! I also got them engraved and they are so pretty!

I bought two cups from For The Love Of Pixie Dust. It is an online store that creates the cutest personalized Disney cups! I ordered a castle cup and a matte tumbler with Bruni (the fire spirit from Frozen II) on it. I was having major Disney withdrawals when I ordered this! They won’t be in my hands for a few weeks but it will be worth the wait. The one pictured above is a previous purchase.

Another Disney withdrawal purchase I made was from World Traveler Trading. In all honesty I actually have been eyeing these for a long time on Etsy and decided to just do it and bought three. One is a present for my mom (her birthday is in May) and the other two are for me! I love small ways of adding Disney into everyday life.

So this is pretty much what I have spent my money on (so far). I bought some other things like contacts, food, batteries but those honestly are like every day things and not what I consider “quarantine shopping” HAHA! Is there anything you’ve bought recently due to being stuck at home? I would love to know!
