Every month I try to read a handful of books. I have so much fun sharing my love of reading on TikTok and Instagram that I thought I would try out writing posts about my monthly TBR’s. For the month of October, I read four books– The Kingdom of the Feared, The Ballad of Never After, The Ex Hex, and Scarred. This is a no spoiler post, so all descriptions and thoughts down below are safe for all to read!

Kingdom of the Feared is the third and final book in the Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy. This series starts off as YA Fantasy and by the third book turns into New Adult Fantasy. I really enjoyed this series as a whole and love the setting of this book. It is a great read for fall/spooky season and it will make you want to constantly eat cannolis.

Genre: New Adult

The sequel to Once Upon A Broken Heart. This book was quite the journey. So many ups-and-downs plot wise and emotionally. I flew through this book faster than I care to admit. Fair warning, the ending is a cliffhanger and will make you want to throw your book at the wall. BUT, the good news is that there is going to be another book to look forward to in the future.

Genre: Young Adult

This was such a fun and cute read. It reminded me of practical magic meets Gilmore Girls. It’s about a couple that fall in love in college, but it was short lived. Years later they are forced back together to help save a college town after a curse gone wrong, but it’s not the curse you think it is! This book will make you laugh and give you the feels.

Genre: Romance

This is a dark retelling of Sleeping Beauty. It’s about brother princes, and girl who has one mission– kill the king. When she finally gets to the castle she never expected to fall in love with the scarred prince. I really liked this book, and I especially liked the different points of view.

Genre: Romance

{Starting of the New Year with a quick trip to Disneyland}

{Getting in the last mickey gingerbread cookie until December}

{Enjoying my new Nespresso machine with shots of espresso in these cute cups}

{Feeling grateful for my vehicle after my last car was stolen this time last year}

{Adding to my TBR list with a trip to Barnes & Noble}

I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 2022…

The first week of January has come and gone. Wow! It already feels like it’s flying by. I started off the New Year with a quick trip to Disneyland. I wanted to soak up the last bit of Christmas decor before the park transforms into Valentine’s Day. I also got to enjoy the last mickey gingerbread cookie of the holiday season. He was delicious!

For Christmas I got a Nespresso machine, and when I tell you I have an espresso shot (or two) every morning, it’s not a lie. I love making coffee in my new machine. What makes it even better are these super cute espresso mugs that have mickey shaped insides. I also have done some damage at Barnes & Noble with many a gift cards that I received for Christmas.

I have also taken a few moments this week to asses 2021, and look back at everything that has happened– both good and bad. One of the more major moments of last year was my car being stolen. It was definitely a moment in my life that felt like the tipping point. 2020 was really rough, and to start off 2021 with that was honestly harder. In retrospect, I now look at it as something that I overcame even though I didn’t think I would. Now I have a newer car, and while the check engine light has been on for longer than I like to admit, I am so grateful to even have a car.

As we head into 2022, I wish you all nothing but happiness in this new year, and that we all get through another year in this pandemic.

-going for a walk in the beautiful Spring weather and getting fresh air-

-discovering a new coffee drink thanks to TikTok-

-finally investing in some AirPods-

– playing with my room decor and using books as a fun element-

-sprucing up my patio with some new herbs-

I am actively trying to find ways to stay positive (and not completely freak out over what is happening in the world). I have decided to try a Friday’s Five to look back at my week and think about all the wonderful things that have happened throughout my week as well as things that have been keeping me sane.

I am officially just past the two week mark or self-isolation. I have had some pretty rough days; I’m not going to lie. There was one day where I was in the worst mood ever because it felt like nothing was going right and I felt very “caged-in” at home. On the whole though, I have been doing pretty good.

This past week I have really appreciated going for a nice long walk in the beautiful Spring weather. It honestly put me in such a good mood! The fresh air, migrating butterflies everywhere, and all the trees made for the perfect afternoon. It was so nice not being cooped up in my apartment for a little bit and spending some time with my favorite pup. I also have been trying to spruce up my patio because TBH I have let it go this past year and was looking real sad. I bought some herbs from Lowes and Home Depot to plant and hopefully enjoy over the next month of isolation.

On the home front, I have discovered a new fave (quick and easy) coffee recipe courtesy of TikTok! It is a whipped coffee and I am loving it. I also have been tinkering with my bedroom decor. I want to make it my perfect little relaxation haven to retreat to when I can’t (or don’t want) to be in the common spaces of the apartment. I have been loving taking all my books out of storage boxes and implementing them as decor in my room!

I recently made an investment and purchased some AirPods Pro. I didn’t have any headphones (thanks to my wire chewing cat) and it honestly was weighing on me. I have to do video lectures for school and every Sunday I have a virtual game night with friends all over the country. Not having headphones was a struggle because I was annoying everyone that I lived with. Now that I have some I honestly have improved my well-being! I absolutely love them and I love that there are different size earbuds and noise cancelation.

Thank you so much for taking some time to read and I hope you all are finding ways to stay safe during this stressful and scary time. Stay safe out there friends!
